With a career that began in traditional joinery and grew through heritage restoration, bespoke manufacturing, and senior construction management, our Managing Director has built a practice grounded in precision and respect for design. Experience spans listed buildings, high-spec new builds, churches, and custom joinery crafted to fine tolerances — all supported by years of hands-on technical work and project leadership.
Our Story
I started my career as an apprentice joiner straight out of school, working alongside seasoned professionals at a local joinery company. During this time, I honed my skills by crafting and fitting a wide range of joinery items, from bespoke bar refits for local breweries to various site carpentry projects. This hands-on experience laid the foundation for my career, allowing me to develop a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
After several years, I advanced to a respected local building company, where I took on more complex carpentry tasks, including work on listed buildings, churches, and high-specification new builds. Seeking to expand my skills, I then transitioned to a local joinery manufacturer, where I specialised in machining and assembling bespoke windows, doors, and other custom joinery items.
An opportunity then arose to return as a site manager. Over the years, I was promoted to company director, successfully managing a wide variety of projects with contract values ranging from £500 to £900k.
Driven by the desire to create something of my own, I founded Baker Builds to bring that blend of craftsmanship and management expertise directly to clients. Today, we have expanded to a dedicated team of skilled tradesmen and trusted sub-contractors who specialise in delivering exceptional bespoke projects tailored to meet the unique needs and visions of our clients.
